Fall is a fun time. It’s busy, for sure. Yet, the crisp, cooler temperatures seem to invigorate me. It’s during this time that I enjoy making a “Play” list, or what I refer to as Fall Fun. These are easy activities to do with your family that are more impromptu and need no advanced planning. If the activity is just a matter of making time to do these tasks when the mood strikes, put them down on your “Play” list. I wonder what life would look like if you promoted yourself to Chief Play Officer of your family. With today’s logistics, playing may take a backseat in life. I’ve noticed when I up the priority of pursuing more fun in my day/week, it almost becomes like the eager student with his hand raised high–“pick me! pick me!”. Here is what’s on my Fall Fun “Play” List.
- Go on a bike ride
- Jump in a big pile of leaves
- Put together a puzzle
- Have a family game night
- Slingshot apples from a tree
- Attend a football game
- Do a random act of kindness
- Do a nature scavenger hunt
- Display nature on a tray
- Go to a carnival
- Make s’mores over a fire (now that it’s not so hot outside and it gets dark earlier!)
- Have a family movie night
- Collect fallen leaves and acorns
- Learn clapping games
- Make a pinecone bird feeder
